First of all we started off by looking at other companies logos that were related to men’s grooming products. This was the first time we had designed a logo in this industry and felt it was important to gather inspiration, history and research of what people had been doing previously. We found that logos were very bland and didn’t use many symbols. This is when we decided that we needed to incorporate a suitable symbol in to the logo. Because we felt that it would help Lucky Man stand out. We had a few ideas of what to use. Ultimately, we decided on the beard with pipe used as the ‘y’ in lucky. This was a clever way to incorporate it that smoothly fitted in with the text.
The beard/pipe symbol was chosen because it would make it clear to audiences that the company focused on beards. The pipe was an extra touch that added a bit of fun and character in to the logo. Secondly, we had to decide on a font. We went with the final design because it is has a masculine look to it, while also being simplistic, attractive and easily legible. Finally we went with a blue colour to finish off the logo. Blue has forever been associated with boys. As well as this it fitted in nicely with the aesthetic of the logo and finished it off nicely.
