They are a corporate business that focuses on the growth of enterprises. This is done through empowering organisations to obtain talent, scale, ability and employer branding. Entergain are based in New Jersey, USA and have over fifty years combined experience at their helm. The two Managing Directors of the business are James Celentano (specialising in management consulting, business development, operations, human resources and talent management) and Mikal Celentano (specialising in marketing, premium goods and operations). In order to further their business, they needed logo design.
Entergain were in need of a fresh logo design. The sector that they work in is a competitive environment and it is important to stand out from your competition. One of the best ways to do this is by having an eye catching logo because it is often the first thing people see about your company. A lot of the time people tend to think that corporate logos tend to have a lack of creativity about them and are designed to be as boring as possible – this should not be true. It is just as important in the corporate world as any other industry to have an attractive logo. Having dealt with branding themselves, the Celentano’s knew that the best way to building that strong identity was through logo design.
After doing some research, they found Repeat Logo. Having dealt with designing corporate logos in the past, they felt that we would have the necessary skills at our disposal. They then informed us of what they needed/wanted for their businesses design. The first guideline they gave us was that the logo had to look professional. This was because they are a business to business company and therefore don’t deal with the general public. The second recommendation was that the logo would have to work on many different formats (such as advertisements, merchandise, business cards etc.)
The first stage for any logo design job is research. Having a good understanding of the company, its competitors and the industry will give the best possible foundation to build on. Only once we had gone through this process did we start to think about designing the logo. One of the most important things to research is the competitors. Look at their logo design and find out why they used a certain font, graphic etc.
After we had completed this stage we then moved on to design. The first thing we thought about was if we were going to include any symbol or graphic in to the logo. Ultimately we decided against this because we wanted it to look as professional as possible (as requested by Entergain). The second stage was deciding on a font. Choosing a font is important to the logo because it will set the overall tone, getting it wrong could make a huge difference. We went with a bold, easily legible font because it stood out, while being easy for people to read.
Lastly, we had to choose the colours we were going to use. Green and purple were chosen because they are contrasting colours that clash and stand out. It makes the logo eye catching and interesting while still giving it that professional look we were aiming for.
