The health industry covers a lot of different types of business. Hospitals, dentists and pharmacies are all considered to be in this industry. Abbott Dental are a dentist laboratory. They operate in two capacities. The first of these is that they serve the general public. People can get cosmetic dentistry as well as general check-ups. The second is that they have an in house lab which they use to try and create and improve new ways of dentistry.

This is no different in the health industry, especially when it comes to dentists. Having healthy teeth has become more of a focus in recent years. Because of this, there has been a rise in the number of dentists available to us. Giving Abbott Dental a strong brand identity would help them stand out from their competitors.

Abbott Dental realised how competitive their industry was getting. That is when they started to research ways to gain a better brand identity. Logo design is one of the best ways to develop this because it is often the most recognisable thing about your business. If you think about your favourite companies, you can instantly recognise them from their logo. A strong design will be able to attract new customers, as well as entice returning ones.

As Abbott Dental were doing their research, they found Repeat Logo. They got in touch and asked us about designing a new logo for their company. We were happy to help and got started on the design process.


The first stage of the process was to do research. It was important to learn as much as we could about Abbott Dental. We needed to know their target audience, goals/objectives, services/products etc. before we could move on. Learning about what competitors are doing is also important. Look at what they have done in terms of logo design and see what has worked and what hasn’t. This is done so that there is a foundation to build the logo on. Having this information available will help with the whole process.

Once research was completed, we moved on to brainstorming. This is the stage of the process were we needed to get our creative side going. Working closely with Abbott Dental, we started to think of ideas for the design. They informed us that they wanted a tooth to be incorporated in to the design. This gave us a solid symbol to build the idea around.

We then moved on to sketching the final design. We first sketch it out so that any minor details can be made. Once it is down on paper it is much easier to evaluate how good the logo design actually is. We then packaged up our final design and sent it off.
